Truro Learning Academy is looking for a nurturing, progressive, and aspirational SENDCO to lead and support the provision for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities. This is a 0.5FTE, permanent role with flexible working arrangements, ideal for a passionate educator who wants to make a meaningful impact in a supportive and inclusive school. 

We are a small, welcoming school in the heart of Truro, benefiting from an urban setting with extensive outdoor learning spaces including Forest School, Wild Tribe Garden, woodland, and a bike track. The SENDCO will be responsible for ensuring that SEN and disadvantaged provision is efficiently and effectively managed across the school. You will work closely with the Head of School, teachers, teaching assistants, families, and external professionals to ensure every child receives the support they need to thrive. 

This role also includes: 

  • Acting as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead 

  • Leading provision for EAL and most able pupils 

  • Line managing SEN teaching assistants 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Lead the strategic development of SEND provision across the school 

  • Ensure compliance with the SEND Code of Practice and statutory requirements 

  • Chair annual reviews, early support meetings, and TACs 

  • Oversee IEPs, risk assessments, behaviour plans, and care plans 

  • Monitor pupil progress and advise on resource allocation 

  • Support staff with personalised learning strategies and inclusive teaching 

  • Liaise with external agencies, parents, and carers to ensure high-quality support 

  • Produce and publish the annual SEN Information Report and Local Offer 

  • Attend Aspire Trust SENDCO network meetings and contribute to the Aspire SEN Charter Mark
