My Personal Best TrainingMy Personal Best has been designed by the Youth Sport Trust to inspire teachers to teach life skills through physical education. It aims to develop leadership and develop skills such as empathy, team work and resillience, which can be linked to a whole school personal development plan. These skills are explored practically, helping children to recognise them and transfer them into other areas of learning and the wider environment. This is a full days training. As it is linked to whole school development it is strongly recommended that Heads of School attend the morning alongside the PE Lead who will stay all day. Healthy Movers Training Description Healthy Movers is a one day course for reception teachers and early years practitioners in pre-school settings that focuses on how to develop the whole child through engaging, purposeful physical activities in the early years supporting the EYFS framework. It is also suitable for KS1 teachers and adults other than teachers who are looking to extend their practice. It will provide theory and practical ideas using the Youth Sport Trust Healthy Movers resource alongside the Healthy Movers at Home resource which is a set of games and activities to get children moving at home. The activities are designed to develop balance, movement and using objects in a fun and engaging way. Recommended Audience The course is suitable for reception staff and for early years practitioners in pre-school settings and can be adapted to meet the needs of the audience. Lunchtime Supervisor Training This will be a practical day lead by Chris Cawes from the YST, to look at how Lunchtime Supervisors can actively reduce sedentary behaviour in the play ground. The day will be spent looking firstly looking at the facts - why is it important to be active and how it can impact on learning. A key focus will be facilitating children writing for real-world audiences – with blogging, writing for internet publication and print the key destinations for their written pieces. Children are absolutely inspired by such opportunities, and by using technologies with simple, free tools, such ways of working can be opened up for whole classes. Learn how to deliver materials and administer work for children, with outcomes accessible from one teacher’s laptop. The session will also cover Wonde integration for ease of access.
