Tapestry morning for TAs & Pre-school / Nursery support staff. Digital Learning Cornwall.An increasing number of EYFS settings are benefiting from the time and cost savings offered by Tapestry online learning journals. This morning course will bring TAs and nursery staff up-to-date with the various ways to gather observations, manage journals, and access basic analysis tools. Hands-on practise and post-training Q+A with further email support included.  Refreshments included. Conflict Management Training (Adult - Adult)Delivered by Opus Training, this course provides employees with the skills and techniques to recognise conflict in the workplace and pro-actively manage its escalation. The course also offers guidance on how to stay safe in conflict situations and de-escalate conflict. Sleepwell & MindfulnessThe day is run by trained Oulook SW professionals. Mindfulness A workshop including Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT). MBCT combines mindfulness meditation practices, with elements from cognitive therapy to help change the way we meet the habitual negative thought patterns that are characteristic of depression and anxiety. In trials, MBCT courses and continued practice have been shown to significantly reduce the risk of relapse in depression and anxiety and to be widely beneficial to health, wellbeing and happiness. Sleepwell A two hour workshop where you will look at proven techniques for improving your sleep. The workshop covers: What controls our sleep? 7 effective techniques to improve sleep Changing negative sleep thoughts How to manage shift work Sleep problems and stress How to develop a stress reducing, sleep enhancing lifestyle This is an educational class where you will be taught practical steps to improve your sleep. Green screening & animation for the classroom. Digital Learning Cornwall.Green screening has become a key tool in teacher's bid to inspire children with their written and spoken work. Discover how easy it is to employ this simple but very effective tool. Animation is another area that can now be accessed cheaply and quickly with the use of iPad technology. Gain hands-on practise with this exciting and motivating technique that can be employed across the curriculum. This day will also provide guidance towards the Apple Teacher award. NQT & Early Career Conference - MORNING SESSION - SEND AwarenessAspire is inviting NQTs and teachers in the early stages of their career from across Cornwall to join us for our March conference.  Morning (9am-12pm) SEND Awareness led by Evelyn Kyne (Inclusions Advisor for Aspire Academy Trust) Explored throughout the morning will be:  The SEND Code of Practice in relation to key messages  and areas of need   Systems and processes for a graduated response (APDR cycle, IEPs, IBPs & EHCPs)  Planning, preparation and differentiation for SEND  Inclusion friendly environments Evelyn has worked in education for over 20 years as a Head of Year, Safeguarding/CP lead, SENCO and Head Teacher of a Pupil Referral Unit. More recently she was a Social and Emotional Behavioural Support Advisory Teacher with Cornwall Council. She has an excellent understanding of issues facing schools and SENCOs in Cornwall and in education generally. Attendance is free for Aspire staff. Delegates from organisations external to Aspire are most welcome to attend the morning and/or afternoon session at a cost of £35+VAT per session or £60+VAT for the full day. All delegates will be invited to stay for lunch from 12-1pm. NQT & Early Career Conference - AFTERNOON SESSION - Led by Julie HarmiesonAspire is inviting NQTs and teachers in the early stages of their career from across Cornwall to join us for our March conference.  Afternoon (1pm—4pm) The afternoon session is being hosted by Julie Harmieson, who is well known to most of us for her work implementing Trauma Informed Schools UK (TISUK) across Cornwall. TISUK hold the contract to deliver training for Head Start Kernow class. If you haven’t heard Julie before, this session will give you an introduction to aspects of the approach that you will be able to use in your classroom to support all children. For Aspire staff, this is the next step in developing a TIS friendly room. Julie is both inspiring and absolutely essential listening to understand the children in your class fully. Julie was an experienced Senior trainer and Practitioner in Thrive in schools throughout the UK and has over 15 years' experience as a SENDCo and Head teacher supporting pupils with a wide range of additional needs in mainstream settings.  Attendance is free for Aspire staff. Managing Stress & Anxiety“…The adverse reaction people have to excessive pressure or other types of demand placed on them” The challenges facing us both in the workplace and at home may be different but can still lead us to feel distressed and overwhelmed. This training session will aid participants in reducing their own stress levels and building resilience so they can manage pressure more effectively and take control of how they react to stress.
