The Inclusion Lead Team
The Inclusion Lead Team is always available to provide additional support where needed. The team works closely with all Aspire academies to ensure strong communication exists concerning the needs of individual pupils and staff. Referrals to the Inclusion team can include requests for support from the Inclusion Advisors, SEMH and Trauma Informed Schools Support, SENDCo support and Educational Psychologists.
Aspire Director of Inclusion
Sue has been the Aspire Director of Inclusion since September 2017. In addition to this, she also has strategic responsibility for Connor Downs Academy and St Uny C of E Academy. Sue is a qualified advanced skills teacher and has been teaching since 1990.
With an MA in Education, an MSc in Leadership and Organisational Change, the Professional Qualification for School Inspection (PQSI) and the National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH), Sue has particular expertise in raising standards and achievement, English and Special Educational Needs.
Sarah joined the Aspire Inclusion Lead team in September 2018. She works part-time and provides support and advice to SENDCo's and Pupil Premium Champions.
SEMH and Trauma Informed Approaches Lead
Julie joined the Aspire Inclusion Lead team in September 2018 and is co-director of Trauma-Informed Schools.
Julie is passionate about supporting children and young people to be the best they can be helping them to remove the barriers preventing full engagement in life and learning. She divides her time between working at the chalk face in both a practical and advisory capacity; with training, supporting and challenging schools to embed and develop their trauma-informed practice.
Evelyn joined the Aspire Inclusion Lead team in September 2017. Evelyn provides support and advice to SENDCo's and Pupil Premium Champions. She has worked as a senior leader and SENDCo in both mainstream and specialist settings and has also worked as an Advisory Teacher for the Local Authority with a focus on SEMH. Evelyn is a TISUK practitioner and a Team Teach Tutor and is a committed advocate for inclusion and equal opportunities.
SEMH & Inclusion Support
Amanda previously worked for the Local Authority as part of the Behaviour Support Service, supporting primary and secondary schools within mid-Cornwall. She joined the Aspire Academy Trust in September 2017 as the Pupil Wellbeing and Behaviour for Learning Lead within the St Austell Hub and is also a TiS practitioner and TeamTeach tutor for the Trust. She is passionate about, and committed to, supporting all pupils with SEMH.
ARB & ASC Lead
After spending eight years teaching in a special school in Hampshire and working alongside mainstream school as Outreach Lead, Emily joined the Aspire Academy Trust in 2016 and now leads the ARB at Penryn Primary Academy. She is passionate about ensuring all pupils, no matter what their age or ability, can access a broad and balanced curriculum within a truly inclusive setting. As a member of the Aspire Inclusion Lead team, Emily offers training and support to schools to aid them in developing inclusive approaches linked to communication, differentiation and specific needs.
Adele joined the Inclusion Lead team in September 2017 and provides administrative support to the team and first point of contact for most enquiries made to the inclusion team.
Team Teach Lead & SENDCo Coach
Iona has been a primary school teacher for 20 years and, as a SENCo in a range of settings, for 15 years. She is a TiS UK practitioner and also a Team Teach trainer, delivering de-escalation and positive handling skills across the Trust.
Iona is passionate about ensuring all children are supported in the ways they need in order to ensure they enjoy their school life and become the best they can be.
ASC Champion & SENDCo Support
Trish has been an HLTA for 14 years and as a SENDCO for St Minver School has steered the school in gaining Dyslexia Friendly School Status. Trish is also an Autism Champion and TISUk Practitioner and for the past 4 years has been Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead.
She always strives to understand the holistic needs of the child and works proactively with staff and parents to address children's' needs.
