GOOD News for Treverbyn Academy

Treverbyn good 2

The long-awaited Ofsted Report is hot off the press and opens with those magic words…”This is a good school”. Scoring GOOD in all 6 key inspection judgements, this wonderful result is testament to the tremendous amount of hard work, dedication and gutsy determination Head of School Kate Whitford and her team has displayed over the past year, leading to significant improvements in all areas of the school. If you have a moment the Ofsted Report is well worth a read. It acknowledges in detail the leaders’ positive drive to raise pupils’ achievements across the key stages with particular praise for the ‘skilled and extremely sensitive support’ for pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities. The children were acknowledged to be …’polite, courteous, friendly and considerate of others feelings’ and parents were credited as being ‘extremely supportive of the school and its leadership’. Additional areas singled out for special mention was its rigorous and effective governance, the diligent adherence to safeguarding procedures and its high staff confidence and morale. The inspection judgement for the ‘Effectiveness of Leadership and Management’ neatly sums up both the achievement of Treverbyn and the Aspire family ethos – “The head of school, together with other leaders across the multi-academy trust, has established a clear direction for improvement and set high standards for all pupils. Her thorough and systematic approach to increasing the school’s effectiveness has ensured that improvements in teaching, learning and leadership are sustainable”.

One final hurrah is a letter just received from Rebecca Clark, Regional Schools Commissioner offering her warmest congratulations to all.
