We now have two Aspire academies who have successfully passed their TIS accreditation visit by the TIS (UK) assessor and are now proud recipients of the TMHIS (Trauma and Mental Health Informed School) Award. This accreditation recognises the high standards of wellbeing and effective physical and mental health approaches, including the emotional, moral, behavioural and social support available to staff, parents and pupils.
Penryn Primary Academy was the first school in England to achieve the accreditation in May 2019. The following month, Connor Downs Academy was successful and has been asked to become a lead practitioner school for TIS (UK), supporting other schools new to TIS.
In July 2019, TIS UK used the Aspire case study, presented by Susan Costello, as part of their own submission for accreditation with Children and Young People Now. This means Aspire good practice is now being shared with other agencies at a wider national level.
TIS accreditation makes such a positive impact in a climate of reduced SEN funding and higher SEMH needs and we look forward to every Aspire academy gaining this status in due course.
