Bugle scoops £1k Tesco funding

Staff and children at Bugle School & Nursery are delighted to learn that following the Tesco Community Grant vote in local St Austell Tesco stores, their green-fingered project, ‘Learning and Loving Nature’ came 2nd and has been chosen by Tesco customers to receive a grant award of £1,000.

Voting was held at Tesco stores between Saturday 1st January and Thursday 31st March 2022.

The school project will involve designing and creating a nature and vegetable area for the school’s pupils and their families to learn about habitats, eco-systems and how food can be grown sustainably.

Chantelle Penhall, EYFS Lead at Bugle School & Nursery comments, “We are delighted to have been so well supported by our local community and this funding can now make our horticultural dreams a reality for our children!

“The community garden will provide a space where everyone can enjoy tending to the soil, nurture a love of nature and develop an understanding of the living world.”

Claire de Silva, Tesco’s Head of Community, said: “Tesco Community Grants help support local good causes like Bugle School & Nursery and especially those projects supporting young people, those providing food, and local causes close to our colleagues’ hearts.”

Tesco Community Grants is run in partnership with community focused charity Groundwork, who has awarded grants to thousands of local community projects every year.

Tesco’s Community Grants scheme – previously Tesco Bags of Help - has already provided over £90 million to more than 40,000 projects across Britain.

Groundwork’s National Chief Executive, Graham Duxbury, said: “Tesco Community Grants continues to give local projects the boost they need to help their communities thrive. We are pleased to have been able to help so many local good causes over the years and look forward to seeing what community organisations can achieve in the future with the right resources.”
