Train to Teach
Aspire Academy Trust operate the Aspire Teaching Trust (ATT), recruiting and training teachers across our Aspire schools. Our training programme in partnership with the Ofsted Outstanding Cornwall SCITT, follows the primary (3-11) School Direct Unsalaried route, offering a wealth of hands-on experience in at least two Aspire schools, with successful completion leading to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

Our staff are dedicated, giving high-quality mentoring to trainees to help them reach their teaching potential. Aspire Teaching Trust hold a series of informal information sessions for prospective trainees to find out more about training to teach with us. This is the ideal opportunity to visit us, find out more about what we have to offer as well as to chat informally about the programme. We currently have the following dates arranged for these sessions:

The recruitment cycle for teacher training applications opens in each Autumn term and remains open until places are filled – usually into the Spring term or early Summer term. Applications must be made via the UCAS website, with successful applicants invited to an interview and selection process before being placed in our schools.
Your application should demonstrate your skills and any relevant experience you may have that will support you to train as a teacher. Tell us why teaching is your career of choice.
Following successful completion of the interview and selection process, applicants may be offered a conditional place to train with Aspire Teaching Trust; trainees must complete the mandatory Professional Skills Tests for Literacy and Numeracy no later than 8 weeks prior to beginning the course. These tests are run at test centres locally (the same as where you might have taken a driving theory test), with candidates able to attempt each of the tests three times with no charge. After this, there will be a charge to candidates, however there are unlimited attempts to pass. For further information please visit the Department for Education website.
